Serengeti Spring

While spending time camping on the Serengeti plains I had opportunities to view the effect of spring on the unique flora of this area. The varied colors and textures of these fascinating scenes always intrigued me. To interpret all this in yarns and fabric became a goal of mine. However, I was home for quite awhile before I started working on this idea. Finally, upon seeing a photograph I had taken of a field of flowers I decided now was the time to begin interpreting this scene with a knitting technique--a knitting called "free form". I knitted the colors I saw--the blues, yellows, greens and browns--in a swirling motion. The side panels are a burgundy handwoven fabric.
