 | AFRICAN ROBE The colors of Africa are forever inspiring--the reds, golds and oranges of the vibrant sunsets in contrast to the pinks, mauves, blues and grays of the sunrise. This knitted robe is a reminder of the sunsets I saw while in the Dogon country of Mali. The cotton yarn was dyed and then knitted in a manner I call "ikat knitting"--knitting in this manner mimics the ikat technique used in woven fabrics around the world. Each panel is framed with the indigo blue handwoven cotton cloth from Mali.
