CAMEROON FOREST

I have never traveled in Cameroon, but certainly hope to visit this country in the near future. I have, however, seen photographs of the lovely and exotic Cameroon forests. Recently there was a PBS television program on Cameroon and in this film there was one particular photograph that really intrigued me. Since I taped this program I was able to "freeze" frame this particular scene which was rich with color--greens, purples, yellows. After studying this scene I proceeded to dye fabrics that in my mind mimicked the colors I saw. The jacket, 'Cameroon Forest', is the result. The jacket is a combination of batik fabric purchased in Ghana plus the off-loom rag woven and pleated fabric I created from my stash of hand dyed fabrics.
