Master weavers Gilbert Bobbo Ahiagble, from the Volta region in Ghana, and Amidou Coulibaly from the Korhogo region in Ivory Coast have been frequent guest artists in the United States, Canada and Europe, giving weaving demonstrations and lectures in schools and museums.

When they travel to the States, they are invited to demonstrate and lecture, generally under one of two plans:

Plan A) Time frame: 1 class period per group of 15-30 students.
        4 to 5 lecture/demonstrations per day.
Weaver sets up a traditional African loom in a large enough
area where students come one class after the other (for
approx. 45 min.). The weaver explains the parts of the loom
and what weaving is. He demonstrates and then speaks about
the important work of the weaver in Africa and how the
tradition is passed on from father to son. He explains the
meanings behind the various strip-cloths woven and how it
is worn. Children get to try on cloth as well.

Plan B) Time frame: 3 day program for group of 6-10 students.
Same as plan A, only each student learns to weave at his/her
        own loom.
