Two years later, the same duo behind a display table at the Annual Vermont Woodcarver's Convention in Johnson, Vermont. One of the convention's organizers and fellow woodcarver, Tom Teel, commented on Mamadou's work, "He takes millimeter pieces of wood off within inches of his fingers and toes," said Teel. "He carved the entire day. Worked with woods (from here) that he had never seen before. He did one of his pieces in about two hours. And it was beautiful. What he does with ebony is incredible, especially considering the tools that he has."
